Meet Our Doctors

Dr. Grady attended the University of Pittsburgh for his undergraduate course work and graduated first in his class. He subsequently attended dental school at the University of Pittsburgh and again finished near the top of his class.

After finishing his course work at dental school, Dr. Grady went on the specialize and take his residency courses in orthodontics at the State University of New York in Buffalo, New York. Dr. Grady also finished his residency work with a perfect 4.0.

Since then, Dr. Grady has been very active in continuing education and in treating his patients with the most advanced and state of the art techniques.

Dr. Matt Gornick
Dr. Gornick began his undergraduate education with his sights set on becoming an orthodontist. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Duquesne University and attended dental school at the University of Pittsburgh where he graduated near the top of his class. Dr. Gornick continued his post-doctoral education at the University of Pittsburgh to pursue specialized training in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. He simultaneously earned a Master of Dental Science degree and was awarded the Dean's Research Scholarship. Dr. Gornick graduated with over a 3.9 GPA and was the chief resident in his residency program.

Dr. Gornick grew up locally, graduating from Shaler Area High School. He and his wife Jayme currently reside in the North Hills and they are actively engaged in the community. Dr. Gornick continues to be an enthusiastic volunteer at the Sarah Heinz House Boys and Girls Club, a personal commitment he began in 1997 to give back to the program that helped shape his youth. In his free time, he enjoys many sports including golf, running, and outdoor activities such as camping and fishing.

Dr. Dan Kastner
Dr. Kastner attended Pennsylvania State University where he excelled and gained early acceptance to dental school. He studied dentistry at the University of Pittsburgh where he finished second in his class.

Having developed a keen interest in the practice of orthodontics, Dr. Kastner went on to specialized schooling and residency courses at the State University of New York in Buffalo, New York where he finished his course work with a perfect 4.0.

Dr. Kastner joined our practice in 1994. He is married to his wife, Rita, and they have two sons, Luke and Alex. Dr. Kastner enjoys all sports and loves to golf in his spare time.

Meet Our Staff

MELISSA - PROFESSIONAL RELATIONS COORDINATOR



Mel is a 1991 graduate of Shaler Area High School and Beattie Technical School's Dental Assisting program. She began her dental career working as a dental assistant and joined our practice in 1992. For 22 years, she was an orthodontic assistant, and in 2013 she took on the role of Professional Relations Coordinator.

Mel's outgoing, energetic and enthusiastic personality and commitment to our practice success makes her the ideal person for this position! She is highly involved in creating and building strong relationships with our referring dentists and their staff. Mel creates the fun contests that are held in our office, and makes visits to the local schools, helping to educate the students on the importance of excellent oral health. She participates in community sponsored events, answering our neighbors' questions about orthodontic care and promoting the benefits of orthodontic treatment. She also runs the referral marketing program in the practice and coordinates our Make-A-Wish® fundraising events.

Sarah has a long history with GKG Orthodontics: she was a patient of ours many years ago. She had such a great orthodontic experience that she knew she wanted to work here. She finally joined our team in 2006. As our treatment coordinator, Sarah works with new patients to explain their treatment options and related costs. She loves getting to know all the different personalities of our patients and seeing their smiles transform during treatment.

Outside the office, Sarah is involved with the community, coaching cross country for a local school and participating in various church activities.

Karen
Karen attended the Median School, and graduated from their dental assisting program. She has been working in the dental field since 1985, and has been with our practice since 1991. Karen enjoys her job because she likes meeting new people and interacting with them every day.

Catherine
Catherine attended Beattie Technical School's dental assisting program and graduated from North Allegheny High School in 1982. She has been working in the dental field since 1981, and joined our practice in 1991. Catherine worked part-time while she was raising her family, and started working full-time in 2007.

Donna
Donna's dental career began in 1985 at a general dental practice. She started her orthodontic career in 1987, and joined our practice in 1997. When a new patient comes to our office for their initial consultation, Donna will take their digital photos and digital x-rays. She will also take the initial impressions when a patient decides to begin their orthodontic treatment with us. Donna's outgoing personality and special rapport with patients of all ages makes everyone feel at ease on their first visit with us!

Norma
Norma has worked at our office since 1999. She feels that orthodontics is a truly rewarding career because of the relationships that we develop with our patients, as well as being able to make beautiful smiles. She is very proud to be part of an orthodontic practice where patient care and a professional approach is a priority.

Ashley
Ashley attended Penn State and Bradford Dental where she earned her degree in dental technology. Working in the dental field had always been her dream. The doctors, staff, and most importantly, the patients make her job in orthodontics worth everything it is.

Amanda
Amanda has been working in the orthodontic field since 1995 and joined our practice in 2000. She feels that this place is terrific! Patient's and co-workers gravitate to Amanda's upbeat personality. She enjoys her job very much and the part that makes it the most fun are her patients!

Christie
Christie is a 1996 graduate of Shaler High School. She attended the University of Pittsburgh and finished in 2001 with a degree in Exercise Physiology. Although she does not work in that field now, she enjoys the rewarding career of orthodontics.

"I love being a part of this practice. This is a really great place to work! We have a lot of fun here!"

Christie is happily married with a son. When she is not working at the office, she is busy designing cakes.

Laurie
Laurie's orthodontic career began in Boston during her high school years. She has been a Patient Manager with our practice since 1993. Her many years of experience in the orthodontic field make her an asset to our team. Laurie enjoys being a part of such a successful practice!

Annette - Appointment Coordinator
Annette has worked as a secretary and administrative assistant for over 30 years in several different professions. "I can honestly say it is a true pleasure to work at the front desk of such a dedicated and professional office. Doctors Grady, Kastner and Gornick are three of the finest doctors I have ever met". Annette experienced their skill and dedication first-hand many years ago when her own children had their orthodontic treatment completed at our office. "Needless to say, now I am proud to be a part of this fine-tuned and exceptional staff. You just can't help not to smile!"

Kristen has been our sterilization technician since 1998. She enjoys meeting our patients when she delivers sterile instruments to the clinic. Kristen was married in September 2007. When she’s not working, she enjoys relaxing and following the Pittsburgh sports teams with her husband. She is an avid Penguins and Penn State football fan as well.
